At present, APSFL has twelve sections; each headed by an Assistant Director and Supervised by four joint Directors.
Realising the need and importance to provide analytical reports promptly and effectively Andhra Pradesh Forensic Science Laboratory expanded the activities to the Regional level and Regional Forensic Science Laboratories are functioning at Visakapatnam, Vijayawada, Kurnool, Guntur, Warangal, Tirupathi, Kamareddy And Karimnagar.
APSFL has set up 24 mobile forensic science Laboratories called CLUES in all district
headquarters to collect physical evidence from crime scenes. The CLUES Team
consists of a scientific officer / scientific assistant, photographer cum videographer
and finger prints expert reach the crime scene in an exclusive vehicle along with a full range of equipment for locating, recording and processing the physical evidence at the crime scene.
APSFL maintains highest quality in the analysis and prompt reporting and is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 : 2005 quality standards by the National Accreditation Board for laboratories, DST Govt. Of India since 2004 onwards.
Due to additional facilities introduced in APSFL and extensive training provided among all the ranks of police through a full-fledged Forensic Science Academic wing of AP Police Academy and similar courses conducted in AP Judicial Academy for Judicial officers at induction and in-service level, the utilization of forensic services has doubled during the last decade.
